One body, many languages. The chakras of the Vedic tradition, the vertebral segments of Western anatomy, the Du and Ren vessels of Chinese medicine and the endocrine glands of biomedicine all describe the same vertical axis.
The integrated table
| Chakra | Sanskrit | Spinal Level | Du / Ren | Endocrine |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Crown | Sahasrara | C0/1 + crown point | Du-20 / Ren terminus | Pineal |
| Third Eye | Ajna | C0/1–C3/4 + third-eye point | Du-16 / Ren-24 | Pituitary |
| Throat | Vishuddha | C4/5–T1 + throat point | Du-14 / Ren-22 | Thyroid · Parathyroid |
| Heart | Anahata | T2–T5 + heart point | Du-11 / Ren-17 | Thymus |
| Solar Plexus | Manipura | T5–L2/3 + solar plexus point | Du-4 / Ren-12 | Pancreas · Adrenal medulla |
| Sacral | Svadhishthana | L3/4–L5 + sacrum + sacral point | Du-3 / Ren-4 | Gonads |
| Root | Muladhara | Coccyx + root point | Du-1 / Ren-1 | Adrenal cortex |
Du Mai (posterior spine) is the closest structural analog to the sushumna nadi. Ren Mai (anterior midline) grounds each chakra's front-body expression.
Clinical points of note
| Chakra Zone | Primary Du / Ren | Supporting Points | Clinical Significance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Crown | Du-20 · Ren terminus | Du-24 Shenting, Du-21 Qianding | Baihui — vertex, meeting of all Yang; Sea of Marrow; Shen gateway |
| Third Eye | Du-16 · Ren-24 | Du-15 Yamen, Yintang | Occiput–C1 axis; Wind Gate; upper cranial nerve territory |
| Throat | Du-14 · Ren-22 | BL-11, Tiantu | Convergence of all six Yang meridians at the cervicothoracic junction |
| Heart | Du-11 · Ren-17 | BL-14, BL-15 | Sea of Qi; Shen residence; cardiac plexus at T4–T5; Tanzhong |
| Solar Plexus | Du-4 · Ren-12 | BL-20, BL-21 | Mingmen — Yang fire; splanchnic plexus; Middle Dantian |
| Sacral | Du-3 · Ren-4 | BL-31/32, Baliao (BL-31–34) | Lower Dantian; Chong Mai origin; reproductive axis; Kidney Yin |
| Root | Du-1 · Ren-1 | BL-35, BL-54, Baliao | Sacral plexus, pelvic floor, Yang root — gateway of the Du vessel |
Du-14 Dazhui is one of the most significant points for Spinal Attunement work. Du-4 Mingmen governs the entire root-sacral Yang axis despite its L2–L3 location.
