Introduction · Chapter V
The Five Bodies
The horizontal axis
The Spinal Attunement Method™ works with a five-body model — one that reflects the multidimensional nature of human consciousness and somatic experience. Each body is an expression of a different layer of the self: physical, emotional, mental, soul, and spiritual.
These bodies are not simply theoretical — they are deeply perceptible within the healing field, and each practitioner will begin to recognise and sense their textures, rhythms, and language over time. These bodies form our reference points for our Horizontal Axis.
Physical Body
The densest and most visible layer — comprised of skin, fascia, muscle, bone, and organ. For many people, especially those new to embodiment or healing work, this is the most accessible entry point. The spine, musculature, and physical postures reveal a great deal about internal patterning.
Emotional Body
Also referred to as the etheric or feeling body, it contains memory held in sensation and emotion. Emotions unprocessed in the moment of experience often become imprints here. This layer is closer to the surface than the mental field and tends to move quickly when touched gently or safely.
Mental Body
Holds the narratives, beliefs, and looping thought-forms that shape perception. Overactive mental fields are often accompanied by holding patterns in the neck, jaw, or upper back, and a constriction in the cranial spine. Many clients with dominant mental bodies find it difficult to rest, soften, or feel.
Soul Body
The deeper essence field — where archetypal patterns, karmic imprints, and inner knowing reside. Working with this layer tends to catalyse profound realisations, alignments, or life pivots. The soul body is accessed through safety, spaciousness, and often through the midline.
Spiritual Body
The most expansive of all, and can extend several metres beyond the skin. It holds spiritual intelligence, multidimensional memory, and the frequencies of unity. Those with a strong spiritual constitution often feel most alive when working in or from this field — and may benefit from grounding work in the physical and emotional bodies.
